Privacy Policy
Kaizumo · Last updated: 15 August 2026
This policy explains how we handle your personal data in the Kaizumo app. We comply with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and — for users in the EU — with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible?
Responsible for data processing is Louis Leuenberger. You can reach us any time at support@kaizumo.app.
What data we process
Account data
To create an account we need your email address and a password. The password is never stored in plain text. Account management is handled by our provider Supabase.
You can also sign in with Apple or Google. In that case the provider confirms your identity and passes us your email address and name so we can create or find your account. We do not receive your password from them.
Profile information
What you enter during onboarding and in your profile: display name, age range, gender, goals, interests, hobbies, personality traits, life situation, daily rhythm, energy level, available means and constraints, available time, and your personal motto. This information is used for personalization and can be changed at any time in the settings.
In-app usage data
Your quests, routines, calendar entries, completion status, XP/level/streak, and your feedback on quests (“like”, “too hard”, etc.).
AI memory
From your profile and your actual behavior, the app automatically creates a short summary about you (“coach memory”) so that suggestions fit you better. You can view it in your profile at any time.
Focus & app blocker (Screen Time)
The focus feature uses Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls. The selection of apps and websites you want to block, along with your focus times, stays entirely on your device. Apple only provides us with the selected apps as opaque, non-readable tokens — so we do not learn which specific apps you block. This data is not transmitted to our servers and never leaves your device.
How we use the data
- Personalized quests and coaching chat: your profile, behavior, and coach memory are sent to our AI provider to generate suitable suggestions and responses. This data is used only to generate your responses and is not used to train AI models.
- Synchronization: so your data is available again on a new device.
- Reminders: local notifications on your device. These do not leave your device.
Legal basis: performance of the user contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), or your consent where required.
No automated individual decisions: the AI produces suggestions and responses to support you. There is no automated decision with legal or similarly significant effect (within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR) about you.
Who we share data with
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Account, database, synchronization | EU (Frankfurt) |
| Vercel | App backend server | EU/USA |
| OpenAI | Generating quests and chat responses | USA |
| RevenueCat | Subscription processing | USA |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, payment processing in the App Store | USA |
| Sign in with Google (only if you use it) | USA |
For transfers to the USA we rely on the EU Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising tracking.
What does not happen
- No advertising IDs, no ad tracking, no sharing with ad networks.
- No location data.
- No access to your contacts, photos, or microphone.
- We never see your payment details — these are processed exclusively by Apple.
Data security
Data transfer between the app and our servers is encrypted (TLS/HTTPS). Your data is stored with our providers in secured data centers, with access limited to what is necessary. Your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash — never in plain text.
Use without an account
You can also try Kaizumo as a guest without registering. In that case your entries are kept locally on your device first; cross-device synchronization is only possible with an account.
Retention
We store your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), your data is removed from our servers.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection.
You can perform deletion directly in the app (Settings → Delete account). For anything else, write to us at support@kaizumo.app.
Complaints: you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Switzerland this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch). In the EU you can contact the data protection authority of your country of residence.
Children and teenagers
The app is not directed at children under 13. If you are between 13 and 16, you may need the consent of a parent or guardian depending on your country.
Changes
We update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always available on this page.
